As the middle child in a family with eleven children Dena spent many hours as a teenager helping her mother maintain organization in a chaotic and busy home. There was no end to the laundry, dirty dishes, toys, papers, and misplaced items. Dena's mother says all she can remember her daughter doing in eighth grade was sweeping floors. What she didn't realize was that as Dena swept each room she was restoring order, returning stray items to their proper places.
Dena received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Soon after graduation, she married John Doerfler and once again became active in organizing a home and, furthermore, raising three children. During those sixteen years as a work-at-home mom she strengthened her organizational and home staging skills through a variety of volunteer positions. Further knowledge of organizing came by way of twelve years employment as an office manager, overseeing all aspects of accounting as well as maintaining all client, vendor, and personnel files for the business. After numerous opportunities to organize spaces and events for friends and family it was only natural for Dena to take the next step and become a Professional Organizer.
